Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of the traditional Batak Marsitekka game on the social development of fifth- grade children at SDN 053964, Langkat Regency. The problem raised focuses on the low social interaction of Intelligence, Elementary students in the context of physical education. This study uses a Education quantitative method with a pre-experimental design of the One Group Pretest-Posttest Design. The subjects of the study were 20 fifth-grade students. The data collection instrument used a questionnaire and observation rubric that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results of the normality and homogeneity tests showed that the data were normally distributed and homogeneous. Hypothesis testing using a paired sample t-test showed that the Marsitekka game had a significant effect on children's social development, with a significance value of 0.000 <0.05. Children showed an increase in cooperation, empathy, communication, and discipline after treatment. This study strengthens Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, especially the aspect of interpersonal intelligence. Thus, the traditional Marsitekka game is effectively used as a contextual learning medium that is not only entertaining but also educational, while preserving local culture
